  • Tom Blomqvist leads the charge for Acura, lining up fifth with the #60 Acura ARX-06
  • Eighth place in qualifying for sister #93 Acura ARX-06 with Nick Yelloly

The #60 and #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian ARX-06s will take the green flag from fifth and eighth on the grid for tomorrow's two-hour, 40-minute TireRack.com Monterey SportsCar Championship sprint race. The pair of ARX-06 machines will be in search of Acura's 20th win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

In the prior practice sessions, both machines had a respective incident that brought out a red flag, resulting in the loss of their fastest qualifying laps—a new rule for 2025 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Tom Blomqvist went on to set two solid laps on board the #60 Acura, with a final time of 1:13.058 seeing him line up on the third row. He will share the car with Colin Braun. Blomqvist and Braun have seen prior success in the same event, with Blomqvist finishing second with MSR in 2022 and Braun with a win in 2012.

Nick Yelloly will start from eighth in the sister #93 ARX-06, with thin margins putting him on the fourth row for Sunday's start. He is co-driving with Renger van der Zande, who will eagerly be looking to repeat his 2023 performance in order to reclaim the top step of the podium.

Quotes
Tom Blomqvist (#60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) Qualified 5th: "It's a bit frustrating in qualifying when you know it's so tight. I was a bit conservative, but nonetheless it's a good result. I think we were hoping for more to be honest, but equally I guess it was a little bit what we expected. The Acuras had a tough time here last year, but I think we made some good gains from the performance of last year. We can still have a good race, we just have to be smart and see what we can do tomorrow."

Nick Yelloly (#93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) Qualified 8th: "Obviously we're not first, so it's not great. We struggled a bit today with extracting the most out of the car in qualifying, but I think we have a better race car. It's a shame for the incident I had in practice, which cost us our fastest lap in qualifying, although I don't think it would have made much of a difference, at least in our case. There's a lot that can happen tomorrow, so we'll try to put it together and move forward."
