- Kevin Boehm wins TC class championship at Sebring after placing first in both SRO Touring Car America races at Sebring
- Boehm continued his TC class podium-finish streak and has finished first eight times this season
- Carter Fartuch takes two TCA top-five finishes in the HPD Honda Civic Si FE1
SEBRING, Florida (September 25, 2022) – Kevin Boehm swept another TC America series weekend in his Crowdstrike Racing with Skip Barber HPD Honda Civic Type R at Sebring International Raceway, putting him far enough into the points lead to clinch the SRO Touring Car America TC class championship with two rounds remaining.
In TCA, Skip Barber Racing School’s Carter Fartuch finished top five Saturday and Sunday in the HPD Honda Civic Si FE1.
TC Honda Civic Type R
Kevin Boehm started Saturday’s race at Sebring on pole in his Crowdstrike Racing with Skip Barber HPD Honda Civic Type R. Boehm was in tight competition with Clay Williams through the first half of the race, with Williams less than a second behind Boehm. But Boehm defended his position and extended his lead in the second half, taking his seventh win of the season at the checkered flag.
Given his substantial point lead this season, Boehm needed only a fifth-place finish Sunday to win the SRO Touring Car America TC class championship. Boehm started Sunday’s race in second, trading first place multiple times with Williams. Boehm passed Williams a final time with 13 minutes remaining and finished victorious, sweeping the weekend.
Boehm’s 2022 SRO Touring Car America season has been incredibly consistent, winning eight of 12 rounds and finishing on the podium with a top-three finish in every race.
TCA Honda Civic Si
On Saturday, Fartuch started third in his Skip Barber Racing School HPD Honda Civic FE1, but quickly reached first just as the green flag dropped. Over the first 10 minutes of the race, Fartuch dropped to fifth and maintained his position through the end of the race.
Fartuch started Sunday’s race in fifth. Just a minute after the green flag, multiple cars collided and went off-track, though all cars were able to continue racing without triggering a caution flag. Fartuch briefly fell to seventh afterward but managed to work his way up to fourth by the checkered flag.
Quotes
Kevin Boehm (#9 Crowdstrike Racing with Skip Barber Honda Civic Type R), TC race winner both Saturday and Sunday, following Saturday’s race: “Today, we had a great qualifying with a massive lap. I knew that didn’t represent the pace of everyone, so when the race started, it was really close. [The competition] kept me really honest, and I wasn’t able to make any mistakes. For the car to be so reliable and for me not to throw it away on accident makes it feel that much better. It’s so great to have Crowdstrike and AWS on the [first-place] podium for the seventh time this year. I can’t believe it.”
Kevin Boehm (#9 Crowdstrike Racing with Skip Barber Honda Civic Type R), TC race winner both Saturday and Sunday, following Sunday’s race: “The first thing that comes to mind is teamwork. There’s a giant group of people that were celebrating when we crossed the finish line. And we owe so much to them and all their hard work. There’s so much work behind the scenes that goes unnoticed, and I just have to thank all of those guys so much, and to get another championship with Crowdstrike and AWS – wow, what a season!” “I honestly don’t think I deserve any credit. I work hard behind the wheel, but it really is the team. If you take any of those pieces away, it all falls apart. I’m glad to be part of that team and to bring the whole thing up, but it’s nothing about me – it’s all about the teamwork.”
