Sonoma, CA (March 4, 2021) - L.A. Honda World Racing is expanding its racing portfolio at this weekend’s season-opening SRO TC Americas event at Sonoma Raceway, with the introduction of a Honda Civic Si TCA entry to accompany L.A. Honda World’s Civic Type R TC race car. For the 2021 season, L.A. Honda World has expanded its racing efforts to include a full commitment to the SRO TC championship, with fielding two cars for the season opener, with plans for a third race car to be added at the next round at the Circuit of the Americas.

The Civic Si TCA and Type R TC race cars are designed, built, and sold by Honda Performance Development (HPD) and will be piloted by L.A. Honda World drivers Mario Biundo, driving the #77 Civic Si TCA and Mike LaMarra behind the wheel of the #37 Type R TC car, supported by its own dealership’s in-house motorsports crew.

“Growing Honda’s footprint in racing has always been our motivation alongside winning. To have reliable HPD products on the track along with our extensive knowledge of Honda is a combination we believe will prove successful throughout the year,” says Biundo, Owner of L.A. Honda World and SRO TC Americas driver. “The field in TC is very competitive and we believe the season will be challenging. However, the Honda Type R platform is getting sorted and the Civic Si has proven itself a champion already. So, at this point, it’s time to get going and race Honda’s.”

“HPD is honored to continue our successful partnership with LA Honda World Racing. Having a Honda dealer demonstrate the capability of the HPD turnkey production-based racecars proves that Honda quality and challenging spirit is thriving.  With many wins in hand, we look forward to supporting even greater achievements with LA Honda World Racing’s 2021 Touring Car efforts”, John Whiteman, HPD Commercial Motorsports Manager.

The HPD Civic race car line, with it’s affordable, reliable, and consistent Honda power, provides racers the best path to further their talents, while receiving unparalleled trackside engineering support. Both vehicles are based on their showroom-stock counterparts and feature distinct modifications to allow them to compete successfully in a variety of touring car race series in the U.S. and around the world, fitting a range of racing budgets.

All the racing action starts at 1:30pm Pacific Time on Saturday, March 6th with the TC Americas Race 1 in Sonoma, California.
