Acura qualified on pole for this year's Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Nick Yelloly setting the fastest qualifying time in his #93 Acura ARX-06 for Acura Meyer Shank Racing.

This year is a special anniversary for Acura, with the brand celebrating 40 years since its inception in 1986. Acura seeks to win its first race at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach since the brand made its return to top-level prototype racing in 2018.

The #93 duo of Yelloly and Renger van der Zande hope that they can score that victory for Acura and for team partner Phillips 66's brand 76—which will feature on their Acura ARX-06 for this race and in two weeks' time at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The sister #60 Acura ARX-06 will roll off 11th in class following an incident in practice that precluded Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun from participating in the qualifying session.

(#93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06) qualified first "It's a special anniversary for Acura, celebrating 40 years, we have a special livery for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and now we have a special pole position for tomorrow's race. This feels like it's been a long time coming. My last pole position was in Road America, so I'm very happy to have been able to do this again—especially for Acura's home race and for all the great people working here. This is fantastic, and I'm incredibly happy with this result. Let's see what we can do tomorrow!"

David Salters (President, Honda Racing Corporation USA)"A stone cold banger of a lap from Nick—bravo mate! Pole position for Acura at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Brilliant! A superb job from the mercurial men and women at HRC & MSR—bravo! Great first step and tomorrow is the main focus. Certainly pole shines with the stunning 76 livery on the car. Well done team!"
