  • Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) collecting data to support development of HRC Performance Parts
  • Specially prepared Acura Integra Type S and TLX Type S will compete on nine racetracks in eight days
  • Acura race team composed of engineers from the Honda Automotive Development Center in Ohio and the all-volunteer Honda of America Racing Team (HART)

An Acura Integra Type S fitted with prototype performance parts being developed by Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) is competing this week in the iconic 2025 Tire Rack One Lap of America, one of the most challenging grassroots motorsports events in the world. The extreme conditions of the grueling week-long event covers more than 3,000-miles and includes timed events on nine racetracks across the Midwest, testing the performance and durability of the prototype HRC Performance Parts.

Last fall, at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, HRC announced it has created a new business to produce authentic HRC Performance Parts for customer use for street, track and off-road applications.

The specially prepared Acura Integra Type S is being driven by two Ohio-based Honda engineers, Justyn Bobinski and Chad Gilsinger. Both are vehicle dynamic test engineers at the Honda North American Automotive Development Center (ADC) in Ohio. This collaboration between HART and HRC offers a unique opportunity for HRC to collect vehicle data and driver feedback from the event and feed that into the development of each part.

Fellow ADC engineers Clay Duval and Brian Penza are piloting an Acura TLX Type S, the quickest, best-handling all-wheel-drive sedan in the brand's 35-year history. TLX Type S features a turbocharged 355-hp V6 engine and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) with true torque-vectoring. Penza is a bumper design technical expert, and worked on various Honda and Acura models including the TLX, while DuVal is an HVAC performance senior engineer.

The Integra is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tires. This is the flagship Potenza product engineered for grassroots racing, designed with track day, autocross and endurance racing drivers in mind. The TLX will be running Bridgestone Potenza Sports, which are engineered for confident wet and dry performance with enhanced cornering and improved dry braking.

The 41st running of One Lap of America, May 4-10, starts and ends in South Bend, Indiana, at the headquarters of Tire Rack. The competition includes timed track events at many of America’s greatest motorsports facilities including World Wide Technology Raceway outside of St. Louis, Missouri, the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park in Kentucky, and Virginia International Raceway.

The Acura team competing in the One Lap of America is part of the Honda of America Racing Team (HART), which consists of Honda associates across North America. The program gives associates the opportunity to compete in nationally recognized competitions and racing series, including Rebelle Rally, the American Rally Association, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, IMSA sportscar racing and more. HART provides Honda associates with invaluable experience through motorsports, while also transferring vehicle performance learnings into the development and manufacturing of next-generation Honda and Acura products.
